Climate friendly conference centre

The Newton-Arkwright regeneration project is transforming the Grade II listed buildings into beacons of sustainability, and will make Nottingham Conference Centre an ideal choice for delegates requiring a venue with excellent green credentials.

Nottingham Trent University recently topped the People and Planet Green League as the UK's most environmentally friendly university - there are many environmental design and management features within the development which support our commitment to this status including:

  • Renewable-source heating from the Nottingham District Heating Scheme, recycling municipal waste into a heat source for water in key buildings.
  • The newly regenerated Newton building has a 3000m2 green roof, one of the largest in the country. This will provide a micro-habitat for city centre wildlife and provide excellent insulation and pollution filtration.
  • Nottingham Conference Centre has waste recycling facilities - the University currently recycles 45% of all waste.
  • Nottingham Trent University is one of the first in the country to achieve the EcoCampus silver award in recognition of our high-quality environmental management practices, Nottingham Conference Centre will benefit directly from this first-class service.
